Hi, I’m Hossein Margani 👋
A seasoned DevOps Engineer based in London, UK, with a rich background in software development and engineering.
My journey into the world of technology began in 2006 in Iran, when I started as a software developer working with ASP.NET and C#. Back then, I had no idea that the simple joy of writing clean, functional code would eventually lead me to a career that spans nearly two decades and bridges continents.
For the first decade of my career, I honed my skills as a software engineer, working for a couple of companies in Iran. My days were filled with building applications, solving tricky bugs, and learning the ins and outs of software architecture. In 2016, life took an exciting turn when I moved to London. I joined two different companies as a software engineer, diving even deeper into my craft and adapting to the fast-paced, cutting-edge tech scene in the UK.
But it was in 2017 that everything changed. My employer asked me to step into the world of DevOps—something I had never explored before. They needed someone to help navigate Azure and the new era of cloud computing. I was intrigued and dove headfirst into learning DevOps concepts and tools. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed bridging the gap between development and operations.
One of the most rewarding challenges during that time was collaborating with my manager, the software architect, to design and implement a cloud migration strategy for our clients. We were tasked with moving their on-premises resources to Azure. I led the architecture design and built the CI/CD pipelines to make the migration smooth and scalable. It was a pivotal moment in my career, and I knew I’d found my niche.
By 2022, I had grown into the role of DevOps lead. It was an incredible opportunity to mentor others, shape strategies, and drive initiatives that transformed how teams approached infrastructure and deployment.
In 2024, I embarked on a new adventure, joining an employer where I had the chance to work with Pulumi and C# for Infrastructure as Code. It was a perfect fit—combining my software development roots with my DevOps expertise to design modular, maintainable infrastructure.
What I Love to Work On
Through all these experiences, a few things have become my bread and butter:
Building CI/CD pipelines that deliver rapid, reliable deployments.
Designing modular cloud infrastructure using Pulumi (C#).
Embracing containerization with tools like Docker, AKS, and Helm Charts.
